Empowering Future Innovators: ROMPCO Expands Mobile Science Lab Programme to Kokstad
13 May 2025, Kokstad — In a significant stride towards enhancing STEM education, the Republic of Mozambique Pipeline Investments Company (ROMPCO) proudly unveiled a state-of-the-art Mobile Science Laboratory at Nomzamo Primary School in Kokstad. This initiative marks the expansion of ROMPCO’s successful mobile science lab programme, previously implemented in Mpumalanga, to the learners of the Greater Kokstad Municipality.
The mobile lab is designed to bring practical science education directly to schools, offering hands-on experiments and interactive learning experiences. This approach aims to ignite curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of STEM subjects among students, particularly in under-resourced areas.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to educational development, we are thrilled to extend our mobile science lab programme to Kokstad. This initiative is more than just a Corporate Social Investment; it’s a transformative journey for our learners,” said ROMPCO CEO, Mr. Mlandzeni Boyce.
This expansion builds upon ROMPCO’s previous contributions to Nomzamo Primary School, including the donation of three classrooms through partnerships with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Ride4Hope Foundation initiative.
The mobile lab will serve ten schools within the Greater Kokstad Municipality, providing learners with access to practical science experiments and fostering a culture of innovation and inquiry.
ROMPCO extends its gratitude to our partners, the Osizweni Science Centre and the KZN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, for their invaluable support in bringing this vision to fruition. Together, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators in both South Africa and Mozambique.
